Self Represented Resource Center

The Self-Represented Resource Center is a legal center where low-income individuals, who do not have an attorney, can receive assistance with preparing legal paperwork. The Self-Represented Resource Center is staffed by attorneys who DO NOT represent you, and they cannot provide you with any legal advice. They are available to assist with Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic court forms only.

Steps for assistance

1. Initial Intake

Please call (614) 525-7531 only one time and leave a message with your name, case number, phone number, and what paperwork you need assistance with. You will then be added to our wait list. Please make sure your voicemail is set up and not full.

2. Return Call

Your call will be returned within the next few business days. This call may come from a "(614)-525" number, or a private number. If you miss your return call, please call (614) 525-7531 to be added back to our wait list.

3. Paperwork Assistance

If you qualify for our assistance, the paperwork attorney will ask questions and fill out your requested documents. Please note that they will not provide legal advice.

4. Folder Pickup

Folder pickup is available Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. On your designated day, you will come to 373 S. High Street, fourth floor, with your ID to collect your paperwork from our intake professional.

5. Next Steps

The SRRC does not represent you or follow up on your case. You must turn in your paperwork at the location indicated in your folder and attend any and all court dates.

 

Important information

The attorneys at the Self-Represented Resource Center do not assist with every type of document. Their services are limited to documents filed in the Franklin County Domestic and Juvenile Courts,
such as divorce, dissolution, child support and custody documents.

Examples of documents the attorneys can assist with:
  • Complaint for Divorce/Petition for Dissolution
  • All affidavits required with these filings
  • Motion to Modify Child Support
  • Complaint/Motion for Custody/Parenting Time
  • Contempt Motions
  • Complaint/Motion for Shared Parenting and Proposed Plan
  • Divorce Decrees
  • Agreed Entries (if all parties are available and low income)
Examples of documents the attorneys cannot assist with:
  • Subpoenas
  • Trial preparation (including: trial notebooks, case management orders, witness lists, etc.)
  • Discovery documents, including:
  1. Request for Production of Documents,
  2. Interrogatories, witness lists, etc.
  3. Emergency Custody, Objections,
  4. Temporary Orders affidavits (though the attorneys can give you the forms)
  5. Civil Protection Orders and any related documents
  6. Electronic filing (also called e-filing)

 

The attorneys at the Self Represented Resource Center cannot assist you if you have an attorney. The attorneys at the Self Represented Resource Center cannot assist you if you are not low income; you will be asked about your income prior to receiving assistance. All parties to the court case must be on the call to receive assistance with Dissolutions and Agreed Entries, and all parties must be low income and unrepresented by counsel.
