Medical Services

 

Physicians are contracted through Nationwide Children's Hospital. The Physician’s are available with on-site clinics three days per week and are on call 24 hours daily.

 

Nursing staff are from Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Nursing staff are on-site and accessible to the youth daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. seven days per week.

 

Nursing services provided: 

 

  • Intake health screening (within 72 hours) for all youth admitted to the facility including STD testing
  • Monitoring and tracking of vital signs
  • Administration of medications
  • Comprehensive nursing care plans for youth in need of medical services
  • Daily medical call
  • Schedule outside medical consults and appointments, if needed
  • Provide each parent/guardian with a discharge summary of any pertinent medical information pertaining to the care the youth received while at the JDF and any medical care/follow-up the youth will need when discharged


Physician services provided:
 

  • Physicals (within 7 days of admission) to all detained youth that are new to the facility or have not had a physical in the past year
  • Sick call visits for youth on nursing protocols
  • Telephone consultation to nursing 24 hours daily
  • Leadership of the medical clinic
