Preferences and Practices

General

Be on time. If something happens preventing this, communicate with the court as soon as possible. Absent communication, the matter may proceed in your absence..

Professionalism

Professional behavior is expected. Civil behavior, especially with court personnel, is demanded. Courtesy to everyone involved is appreciated. A word of advice: don’t interrupt. It’s a pet peeve. You’ll get an opportunity to speak.

Trials

If we have set aside the time for a trial, be prepared to conduct that trial at the scheduled start time. If a resolution short of trial has been agreed to by the parties, inform the undersigned as soon as possible so the schedule can be adjusted. If a translator or a piece of technology is needed for trial, make arrangements for these ahead of time so that delays are avoided. Exchange witness lists and exhibit lists with opposing counsel prior to trial to avoid issues. Please present any stipulations to the undersigned at the start of the hearing in writing.

Continuances

Continuances will be granted for good cause. Request as soon as possible so schedules can be adjusted.
