Mission Statement
 

The mission of the Franklin County Juvenile Recovery Court is to assist in the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders who have been adversely affected by drugs and alcohol in Franklin County by providing collaborative treatment, supervision, and support with the goal of helping each juvenile to develop healthy attitudes and values necessary for reducing substance use and recidivism. Our court recognizes that each youth and each family is unique. With that in mind, the youth, the family, and the Juvenile Recovery Court team collaborates to create achievable, independent goals for each youth. This is a strength based program, the goals of which are to help each youth identify his/her strength and positive attributes, acknowledge challenges that substance used disorder diagnoses brings and to teach each youth the skills required to succeed and manage recovery oriented lifestyle.

A youth may be considered for participation in Franklin County Juvenile Recovery Court Program if he/she meets legal and clinical criteria. However, the fact that a youth may meet these criteria does not create an absolute right to participate.

 

  • Be a resident of Franklin County
  • Be between the ages of 14 and 17
  • Have a diagnosis of moderate to severe substance use disorder
  • Have no severe mental health diagnosis, fire-starting behaviors or history of acts of animal cruelty
  • Have no adjudications that cannot by statute be expunged by the Court.
  • Have a parent or guardian willing to actively participate in Juvenile Recovery Court

 

Basic Juvenile Recovery Court Requirements
 
  • Abstain from alcohol and drug use
  • Attend status review hearings
  • Attend appointments with treatment providers and case managers
  • Attend appointments with the coordinator or probation officer
  • Comply with the program requirements
  • Submit to frequent and random alcohol and drug screens
  • Comply with sanctions for infractions
  • Engage in a sober support community
  • No further violations of the law

Every youth involved in Franklin County Juvenile Recovery Court is expected to be available for and participate in substance use disorder/mental health treatment as recommended. The youth and family are expected to follow all recommendations of treatment providers.
