Police-Initiated Diversion

Police-Initiated Diversion (PID) is a collaboration between Central Ohio police departments and Franklin County Juvenile Court that began in October 2019. The purpose of the program is to divert lower risk youth from formal court processing and reduce subsequent delinquent behavior.

The PID program connects the youth and family to resources to prevent future behavior that may result in delinquency. A case plan is developed with the family and program expectations are given to youth and family. Expected short-term outcomes include avoidance of new charges and successfully completing the diversion program.
