Arraignment
Overview
The
Arraignment department is responsible for processing all delinquency
cases that come through the Juvenile Court. The department is
responsible for processing the daily dockets for youth who are admitted
to the Juvenile Detention Center, Village Network, non-lock preliminary
hearings and informal conference dockets. Arraignment staff schedule
and assign Judges and Magistrates to all new cases and controls docket
ceilings on preliminary and diversion hearings. Staff prepare daily
files for the non-lock preliminary hearing docket, generate court
paperwork, magistrate orders, warrants, dismissals and continuances.
Staff also provide daily assistance to the hearing officer, checking
parties in, distributing court paperwork, obtaining signatures,
facilitating continuances, researching respite care cases, preparing
and e-filing failure to appear letters.
